How to Be Nice to Your Neighbors on Karaoke Night
I didn’t get a very good night’s sleep last night because one of my neighbors was having a karaoke party — with some incredibly untalented guests… including one lady in particular who was intent on perfecting the theme from Titanic.
Believe me, it was never gonna happen, no matter how many times she tried..

At some point I almost decided to nix the impossible iceberg idea and just settle for something more readily available.

But no, Mr. Killjoy stopped me.
So yeah I’m a little snappish this Monday morning, and I’ve decided to try and pass a new law where you have to send your neighbors a little gift to apologize for trying to demolish their eardrums whenever you have a karaoke party.
Oh wait, I think it already exists. It’s called good manners.
Because that law DEFINITELY existed in my house. I learned it when I was a kid, and I had this tendency to leave my radio on all throughout the night.
One night at about 3am or something, I suddenly heard a THUNK by my window, followed by another THUNK! THUNK!

It was my South African neighbor hurling plants from his garden at my wall, because apparently my radio had been keeping him up at night for the past YEAR.

I swear this is a true story. Ask my siblings. And let me tell you, to this day I have no idea why he waited an entire year to freak out. In the middle of the night. With plants.
So of course I turned the radio off and squeaked out a “Sorry!” (in a slightly terrified manner from my half-crouched position under my window) and my mom insisted that I send him a follow-up note the next day.

Which I did, of course — except I signed it in the name of my little sister so he wouldn’t know that I was the real radio culprit.

Heehee. :)
Of course now that I’m older (and slightly less evil) I fully intend to upgrade the whole neighbor apology thing - AND sign my real name - whenever I do have a karaoke night or any other type of loud party at my house.
Here’s my proposed “Sorry for the noise” neighbor gift basket, which by the way should be sent BEFORE or DURING the party and not after.

Feel free to steal this idea and use it yourself. I insist.
Have a great week, everyone! :)
