I’m convinced time goes faster these days than it used to. First of all, how is it mid-October already??? And what’s with everyone’s birthdays coming up again when I’m pretty sure I just greeted them?

Plus I just saw some pictures of my nephew Skippy’s 8th birthday. That has to be a joke, right? He’s like.. padding his age to get a driver’s license early or something. RIGHT?

Because this is ridiculous! Time can’t be passing this fast! It’s unnatural. And highly disturbing.  Because if it is, you know what this means… 

GAH! HORRORS! NO!! STOP!!!

This sudden Speedy Gonzales mode that Time seems to have acquired is particularly annoying because we all know that it can go REEAAALLY SLOOOOWWW when it wants to.

Like on Friday afternoons…

So what’s up with that??? Make up your mind, TIME!

Annoying, I tell you.

So anyway I was glaring at the clock resentfully this morning while attempting to give myself a root dye… partly because I was pissed off about the speed thing and partly because TIME was the reason I had white hair to dye in the first place…

…and the side comments from the hubby were not lightening my mood, let me tell you…

And I realized that I’m most bothered by this time thing because I have no control over it. Whether on Speedy or Slowmo mode, it will pass — and there’s nothing you or I or anyone else can do about it.

What we can control is the way we spend time as it goes by. When you look at time from this perspective — that every moment that passes is one that you’ll never get back — you tend to rethink your plans for the day a little bit.

Too often we’re so busy missing the past or fretting about the future that we forget to just appreciate and make the most of the NOW.

And before we know it, suddenly-speedy old time has turned today into tomorrow… and whatever opportunity we might have had, right this minute, might no longer be available.

So GO! DO SOMETHING! Make today marvelous!
