I recently read an article about a blog network called Triberr, and I immediately got jealous of everyone on it. I kind of like the idea of being part of a blog community, with everyone reading and sharing each others’ content.
Two problems, though: (1) You need to have a blog category — and I honestly have no idea what category my blog falls under. Seriously, I have no clue. It’s a problem.
And (2) You have to constantly share each each others’ links, which means that if I join the wrong tribe just because I’m confused about my own identity, I might actually end up tweeting links to posts my Twitter peeps might not appreciate.
So anyway, I’ve been looking around for blogs that were like mine (you know, with drawings and some sort of amusing commentary recounting personal experiences, etc) so I could try to just COPY their category — and whee! I found 3!!!
They’re funny! and awesome! — and umm, so much better than mine.
But what the hey. I’ve always been of the opinion that you should surround yourself with people who are better than you anyway, because they inspire you to step up and try harder.
So here are my three top picks for my imaginary blog tribe:
If my blog could have a boyfriend, Books of Adam would be “THE ONE.” This guy Adam is absolutely hilarious, and such a talented cartoonist (he even has animation!). The drawing above is from a post of his called The Tooth, which is seriously one of the funniest things I have ever read.
I honestly think one of the saddest days on the Internet was when Allie from Hyperbole and a Half stopped blogging. I don’t really know what happened. Her last post was about being sad. And then she just quit. (Damn you, SADNESS!!!)
But if you’ve never read her blog before, she has a ton of old posts to keep you entertained for a while. Here’s a series of drawings from her post “The God of Cake" - which is one of my all-time faves.
Love her. :) Come back, Allie!
3. Verbal Vomit
It killed me. :D
Verbal Vomit also has a bunch of posts about being a hipster, and some other really funny stories, so it’s another extremely entertaining read. I particularly liked this one about when she and her BFF were kids, and bizarrely obsessed with lint.
Too funny. ;)
So, cool! I have a tribe!
Umm, no, not really. Because sadly, my blog BFF’s don’t really post that often. Adam posts maybe twice a month, Verbal Vomit about once a month, and Allie of H&aH — well, not since she got sad. In 2011.
So if we really were a tribe, our meetings would look something like this on most days.
Oh well, whatevs. Go check out my imaginary blog besties anyway. I guarantee you’ll love them. And if you find any more blogs like mine, please let me know! My tribal tent is always open. :)
